Drawing Animals from the Collections | Watercolor Pencils: Rendering Sea Creatures
The Art Museum partners with the Arts Council of Princeton to provide free virtual drawing classes. Weekly classes are taught by artist-instructor Barbara DiLorenzo over Zoom. With an emphasis on drawing with watercolor pencil on paper, each week’s lesson in this series will be inspired by an artwork depicting an animal in the Museum’s collections.
This live art-making class is inspired by this ceramic red-figure fish plate, attributed to the Asteas-Python workshop in Paestum, an ancient Greek coastal city in Magna Graecia (what is now southern Italy), made in the fourth century BCE. In this session, we will draw several of the sea creatures featured on this plate including a fish and an octopus.
