Magued Osman is a professor in the Department of Statistics, Faculty of Economics and Political Science, at Cairo University. He is also CEO and director of the Egyptian Center for Public Opinion Research, “Baseera,” which is the only independent public opinion center operating in Egypt. From February to July 2011, he was Egypt’s minister of communications and information technology in the post-revolution caretaker government. Before that position, Osman was chair of the Egyptian Cabinet of Ministers’ Information and Decision Support Center. He has extensive technical and consultancy experience in social statistics and public policy for a number of organizations, including the UNDP, the World Bank, and the Ford Foundation.
