For the 2023 Gillett G. Griffin Memorial Lecture, artist, painter, graphic designer, set designer, illustrator, and writer, Antonio Martorell discusses artworks in response to the ills of colonial history. Martorell has spent 60 years exploring communication and conversation starters by ways of visual, literary, performance and news media and will provide a glimpse at collective workshops enjoying the pleasure of creation and teamwork and the rehearsal of democratic actions.
Martorell was a 2021 National Medal of Arts recipient and presented with the award earlier in 2023 by President Joseph R. Biden.
