Inspired by her run-in with a peculiar button while working reunions this past summer, Alyssa Lloyd, a member of the Class of 2026, explores illusive memorabilia worn by Princetonians over the years through the sociological lens of in-group belonging. Over the course of the 2023-2024 school year, she accumulated a digital archive of pins worn by alumni as well as literature surrounding the concept of belonging on college campuses.
Through describing the framework of in-groups and their tangential relationship with out-groups, she is able to [pin]point a trend between worn labels and their promotion of both inclusion and exclusion at elite universities.
