This talk will examine how intersections of critical and social justice perspectives are transforming and redefining the traditional goals and purposes of language education. The interdisciplinary framework presented seeks to understand how language education is uniquely situated within the broader context of critical research in the field of education. Implications for language programs and teacher education programs will be discussed.
