From wound healing to cancer metastasis, collective cell migration is a key step to these biological processes. However, many of these migrations are localized and does not impact the whole system. To study these non-uniform dynamics, we developed a high-throughput stimulation platform achieve localized tissue migration through Electrotaxis, in which cells migrates under an electric field. By looking at the migration dynamics between the stimulated and unstimulated zone, this new form of assay measures tissues’ mechanical coupling and other collectivity metrics. By studying the system’s response to these local disruptions, we can draw insights in better controlling the tissue migration to accelerate wound healing, or combat tumor invasion.
